FROM OCEAN TO CAN

Quality at Every Step.

Quality begins with the tuna itself. From the moment it is caught to the final canning process, Cento follows established standards for careful preparation, selection and processing.

Each stage plays a role in preserving the tuna's natural flavor, firm texture and consistency while meeting applicable food-safety and manufacturing requirements.

01 / PREPARATION

Carefully Prepared

After being caught, the tuna is cleaned and prepared under applicable food-safety and manufacturing requirements. Proper handling helps protect the quality of the fish throughout processing.

02 / SELECTION

Evaluated for Quality

Tuna loins are carefully evaluated and selected according to Cento's standards for flavor, color, consistency and texture.

03 / PACKING

Packed for Consistency

Selected tuna is packed and commercially sterilized to create a shelf-stable product while preserving its natural characteristics. Quality controls help maintain consistency from can to can.

THE CENTO DIFFERENCE

Carefully Selected. Solid Packed.

Not all canned tuna is the same. The species, cut and packing ingredients can influence the flavor, texture and overall quality of the finished product.

Cento selects premium tuna loins for their clean flavor, firm texture and consistent appearance. Our tuna is solid packed rather than finely shredded, giving it a substantial texture that works beautifully in sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes.

Packing tuna in olive oil helps maintain moisture while complementing its naturally savory flavor. The result is tender, flavorful tuna ready to enjoy in a variety of Mediterranean-inspired recipes.

Solid Packed Quality

Firm, substantial pieces rather than a finely shredded texture.

Careful Processing

Food-safety and quality-control procedures support dependable results from can to can.

RESPONSIBLE FISHING PRACTICES

Responsibly Sourced & Wild Caught.

Responsible sourcing is an important part of Cento's tuna standards. Participating Cento Tuna products carry the blue Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) label, indicating that the tuna comes from a wild-capture fishery certified to the MSC Fisheries Standard.

Independent assessments of MSC certified fisheries help evaluate how fish populations are managed, how fishing affects marine ecosystems and whether effective management systems are in place.

MARINE STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL

Supporting Sustainable Seafood.

The Marine Stewardship Council is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing sustainable fishing practices.

Its Fisheries Standard assesses wild-capture fisheries against environmental and management requirements intended to protect marine ecosystems and support seafood resources for future generations.

Cento seafood products bearing the MSC label can be traced back through certified supply chains to fisheries certified under the MSC Fisheries Standard.

Learn About MSC Certification

Sustainable Fish Stocks

Fisheries must maintain fish populations at levels that support continued fishing into the future.

Environmental Impact

Fishing activities are assessed for their effects on marine habitats, ecosystems and other ocean species.

Effective Management

Fisheries must have management systems capable of responding to changes and maintaining responsible operations.

Dolphin-Safe Tuna

Cento Tuna Fish in Olive Oil is labeled dolphin safe, reflecting fishing requirements intended to help protect dolphins during tuna harvesting. This designation is separate from MSC certification.
