Ingredients
- 1 lb Anna Penne
- 2 tbsp Cento Imported Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 4 mild Italian Sausage Links, sliced
- 1 Yellow Onion, diced
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 jar Cento Sweet Sliced Pepper Strips (12 fl oz)
- 1/2 cup Red Wine
- 1 can Cento All-In-One Crushed Tomatoes (28 oz)
- 2 tbsp Cento Double Concentrated Tomato Paste Tube
- 1 tsp Cento Italian Seasoning
- 1/2 tsp Cento Crushed Red Pepper
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped
Directions
Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, then set aside. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5âu20acu201c7 minutes. Remove and set aside. In the same pan, add onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and peppers and cook for another minute.
Add sausage back in and deglaze the pan with red wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Let simmer for 2 minutes, then stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes to develop flavor. Add in cooked pasta and toss to coat. Top with grated Parmesan and fresh parsley. Serves 4.
