FAQ

What is the black build up on my Roasted Peppers and are they safe to eat?
Our peppers are fire roasted and do not contain any artificial preservatives.  The black spots, known as "char," are a result of the open-flame fire roasting and is not harmful in any way.

What is the sediment at the bottom of my balsamic vinegar?
Balsamic vinegar is an all natural product and tends to have naturally occurring sediment from the grapes used to produce it.  This sediment known as the "mother of the vinegar" is not harmful in any way and is safe for consumption. Storing balsamic vinegar in a cool dry place and closing it tightly will help prevent the formation of this sediment.

After I open a jarred item, how do I store it properly?
Always check the label of each product for proper storage procedure. Generally speaking, most jarred products need to be refrigerated after opening.  In most cases, it is best to cover all remaining product with water or oil before refrigerating, in order to preserve as much freshness as possible. If the item is packed in brine or water, add water.  If it is packed in an oil marinade, add oil.

Where does Cento Tonno come from?

After I've opened canned tomatoes, how do I store them properly ?

Why isn't the country of origin mentioned on the products?
National labeling laws do not require the country of origin to be placed on the label if the product is manufactured within the United States.  All of our imported products clearly state the country of origin on the back or side panel of the label. So, if the country of origin does not appear on the label, the product was domestically produced.

Why aren't there "Best Before" dates?
Although "Best Before" dates are not market standard, Cento is in the process of applying consumer-friendly "Best Before" dates on all of our products eventually. In the meantime, please fill out our consumer comment form and we will gladly assist you in interpreting our product codes.

How do I know if a product contains allergens, glutens, etc?
In compliance with national labeling laws, all of our products clearly state in plain English any allergens that are contained in the product.  Please read every ingredient statement thoroughly if you have allergy concerns.

Do you sell to the general public?
Unfortunately, we are not able to sell to the general public out of our warehouse and distribution location.  Please feel free to contact us with your location and we will gladly direct you to your closest retailer. If our products are not available where you shop, please request our products to store management.

Do your cans contain BPA?
Unfortunately, all tin products contain BPA.  However, we only use tin that is guaranteed to contain the lowest possible amount of BPA. This type of tin has been proven harmless in countless scientific studies.  We assure you that as new technology becomes available, Cento will be the industry leader in removing all BPA from our cans.
